1. Desiree Oxendine, Esthetician
I don't use old razor blades and I always use proper care when I'm actually using a blade. Prep your skin by allowing some steam from the shower, or even steam from a steamer if you want. The steam helps to soften the hair follicle, making it easier to extract the hair, which in turn helps to aid in the prevention of bumps. Then you want to use and exfoliating cleanser on the area. Make sure you rinse well. Use a gentle cleanser to clean the area and make sure to rinse well. Step away from running water, use a moisturizing shave cream. Something that is more like a lotion rather than a shaving mousse.
For every stroke of hair removed be sure to clean the blade off so you have a fresh blade clean of any hairs for the next stroke. Do this until finished. When you have removed all the hair you want gone, go ahead and rinse off the area with Luke warm water making sure you get all excessive products and hair from the area. Don't rub the area at all, let it air dry or Pat lightly to dry. Apply some moisturizer that has lasting moisturizer properties bit won't clog pores.
- Prep and cleanse
- Exfoliate
- Steam or wait til 3nd of shower to shave since the warm water will soften the hair follicle making it easier to extract hairs by pulling less on the hairs
- Use a shaving oil instead of shaving mousse. The moisturizing properties are so much better for you skin and less harsh when shaving
- Pat dry or air dry do not scrub or rub the area
